Long before the first line of scripture
was penned on papyrus scroll,
the Word, unwritten,
existed as the mind of God.
Before the books were gathered
collated as sacred text,
the Word, intangible; invisible,
was planning, was ordering
the ages that were to come.
This Word predates the Bible,
this Word predates creation,
this Word is alive and active and speaking still today.
“Heaven is my throne room;
I rest my feet on earth.
So what kind of house
will you build me?” says God.
What kind of doctrine could enfold Him,
What kind of information could define Him,
What kind of book could contain Him?
Yet, despite His boundless nature,
within His infinite wisdom,
He devised a crafty plan, by which
His thoughts, His intents
would fit themselves into
the form of a humble seed:
The DNA of His own life,
encrypted within the written Word.
And so began the writing
of that which we now call:
the Bible – the Scriptures.
Within the limitations; imperfections
of human words and human authors
God placed His eternal perfect seed.
A seed is not a tree;
the Scriptures are not our God,
Yet a seed is the beginning, the start -
provided with fruitful soil,
encouraged by water and light,
a seed gives birth to a being
much greater than itself.
His plan foresaw the day
in which this seed would blossom
no longer encrypted; no longer disguised
but fully expressed in the person
of Jesus – the Christ – the Son
The One who was in the beginning
revealed within our midst
Immanuel – God with us -
the Word became flesh.
His desire is still the same:
for His Word to break free of the boundaries
of letters and text and theories
and yet again, became flesh,
and yet again find expression in a person:
you – the chosen – the offspring of God.
So as we approach the Scriptures,
do more than read what is written -
listen to what is spoken.
So once again we can encounter
the mind, the voice, the person
who spoke long before
pen or paper were born.

Its echo is our life…
His voice has found a face
Amen! …So beautifully articulated Andre! THANK YOU. … In the seed is the beginning and also the end. He who declares from the beginning what shall be in the end, is First and the Last, the Alpha and the Omega … and every letter & utterance & thought inbetween. He is the speaking of it even now! He spoke specific details for us beforehand, and had them carefully recorded in print, – so that we may know that His counsel alone stands, of which He testifies in His Son, the Author AND the Finisher of our faith, who will complete the good work He began in us, – that we may stand before Him in that Day – when we appear before His judgement seat (2Cor5:10), and know the FULLNESS of our joy in the presence of His glory! We shall behold our King in ALL of His Beauty! – with all who have this hope. 1 John3:2,3 “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is. And every man that hath this hope in Him purifieth himself, even as He is pure.” ….We only have the firstfruits of the Spirit. (Romans 8:22-25)

“MY SELAH ZONE”

I used to think that my times of ‘spiritual’ inactivity and drought were brought about by an
elusive something that I did or did not do.
I felt guilty when I was not on a ‘spiritual’ high, “on fire for the Lord”, and constantly gorging
myself on artificial God things to the point of gluttony. Anything less was “backsliding.” The
religious blahs devoid of feeling, desire, and excitement were unacceptable. I had work to do for
the Lord.
But, instead, I discovered that He had a work to do in me. My manufactured worship had
eclipsed the silence and rest that God had planned for me at a time when I was most teachable.
Selah, i.e., Stop! think on these things; let yourself grow; let God show and teach you His
meaning.
When I have finished a meal at my Father’s table, it is normal that I not feel desire and hunger.
It is now time for me to digest what Father has provided for me.
I call this “my Selah Zone”. This is where the taste of my belief is absorbed as the nourishment
of confidence when I remember, meditate, and understand that which is now becoming a part of
me.
A respite is essential for my ignorance to become insight and my relationship to mature into
bonding.
When the current session in “my Selah Zone” is finished, I will again receive what is necessary
for me, when it is time for another feast.

I know the translation is destined to ‘thunderstruck’ those to whom it is meant to speak.
